With temperatures 🌡 reaching into the mid-thirties Celsius (that's into the nineties Fahrenheit for us old folks), I was about as thirsty as a moose when I stopped into this popular small-town spot west of Ottawa. The beer was welcome and, as it turned out, so were the wings!
We started off with a fabulous salad, which was worthy of its own photo. But I so eagerly feasted upon it, I neglected to take a picture! It featured a great variety of lettuce, stoked with lots of different diced veggies. With blue cheese dressing, of course!
Oh, and the wings.
The wings came out temperature-hot and sauce-hot, perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender and textured on the inside.
Flatties were a good size, but the drummies were a bit on the large side.
(Head-scratching moment: Were they from the same chickens? Did the chickens work out?)
In any case, they were of nice quality all around.
The sauce was tasty - straight-forward Buffalo Hot - but not much in the way of butter or vinegar highlights, both of which have been known to send the Wingophile over the moon.
Sauce distribution and coating was a bit uneven. An Anchor Bar-trained Wing-Chef would have double-tossed them, but I'm splitting hairs here.
Very good wings.
The verdict (stay with me here):
Three drummies, minus a half-drummie for the uneven saucing, plus a half-drummie for the awesome salad.
According to my math, that equals three drummies!
Stop in if you get the chance.
You'll love the town of Carleton Place!
Special thanks to my dear friends, Mike and Stan, for introducing me to the 'Moose'!
The Wingophile's rating: 3 Drummies
